Mazunte
Mexico · Oaxaca · 10 m
Description
Mazunte is an idyllic coastal village on Oaxaca’s Pacific coast and a unique destination for nature, sustainability, and authentic Mexican culture. Once a small fishing community, it reinvented itself after the ban on sea turtle trade in 1990, becoming a center for conservation, ecotourism, and community projects. Mazunte is known for the Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga, its tropical beaches, relaxed atmosphere, and Punta Cometa, a spectacular headland offering some of the region’s most beautiful Pacific sunsets. Together with nearby villages such as Zipolite and San Agustinillo, this coastline provides a peaceful alternative to Mexico’s larger beach resorts.
