Short description of Manyeleti Game Reserve

Manyeleti Game Reserve lies on the unfenced western border of Kruger National Park, between the Sabi Sand and Timbavati reserves. Its name means place of stars in Xitsonga, and it was set up in the 1960s as a safari area for black South Africans excluded from Kruger's own rest camps under apartheid. The land now belongs to the Mnisi community, who lease concessions to a handful of lodges. With far fewer vehicles than its more famous neighbours, Manyeleti offers off-road game drives across some 23,000 hectares of open bushveld, and the Big Five move freely across the border into Kruger.
