Kratie (ក្រចេះ) is a peaceful town on the Mekong River and the capital of the province of the same name in northeastern Cambodia. The town is best known for the rare and critically endangered Irrawaddy dolphins, which can be observed in the wild along a stretch of the Mekong north of Kratie. Faded colonial buildings, a tranquil riverside promenade, and picturesque sunsets give the town its distinctive charm, while the lush island of Koh Trong offers a glimpse into traditional village life, fruit orchards, and the slow pace of the Mekong countryside.
