Koh Rong
Cambodia · Preah Sihanouk · 5 m
Description
Koh Rong (កោះរ៉ុង) is Cambodia's second largest island, some seventy-eight square kilometres of forested hills off the coast of Sihanoukville. Long Beach runs seven kilometres of white sand down the western shore and is reached on foot over the ridge or by boat, while Sok San lies at its northern end and the pier village of Koh Touch on the east side holds most of the island's cheap guesthouses and bars. The interior is still largely jungle, crossed by a few rough trails and by a zipline course above the canopy. Boats run out after dark to swim in water lit by bioluminescent plankton. Development has arrived unevenly, with resorts on some bays and nothing at all on others, and the island is busier and louder than its neighbour Koh Rong Samloem.
