Katherine, Australia

Katherine

Australia · Northern Territory · 100 m

Description

Katherine is the gateway to Nitmiluk National Park and the spectacular Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge), a system of 13 sandstone gorges carved deep into the landscape by the Katherine River. The region is known for its towering cliffs, dramatic river scenery, waterfalls and natural swimming spots such as Edith Falls, as well as excellent opportunities for hiking and exploring the gorges. Nitmiluk is also deeply connected to the living culture of the Jawoyn people, the Traditional Owners of the land. Katherine combines the striking landscapes of the Australian Outback with Aboriginal culture and serves as an important gateway to the natural wonders of the Northern Territory.
