The Huasteca Potosina is a lush, subtropical region in the eastern part of the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí and one of the country’s most spectacular natural destinations. Its water-rich karst landscape is known for turquoise rivers, dramatic waterfalls, deep gorges, and natural swimming pools. Rafting, rappelling, hiking, and swimming beneath cascading waterfalls make the region a popular destination for nature and adventure travel. An extraordinary cultural highlight is Las Pozas near Xilitla, the surrealist sculpture garden created by British art patron Edward James, where fantastical concrete structures seem to merge with the tropical jungle.
