Holbox (Isla Holbox) is a laid-back island off the northern coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula in the state of Quintana Roo and part of the protected Yum Balam natural area. The largely car-free island is known for its long sandy beaches, shallow turquoise waters, sandy streets, and rich birdlife, including flamingos and pelicans.
