Description

Hiroshima (広島市) is a historic metropolis in western Japan and a powerful symbol of peace, remembrance, and renewal. The city is known for the Atomic Bomb Dome, the expansive Peace Memorial Park and its museum, Shukkeien Garden, and the historic Hiroshima Castle grounds. Hiroshima combines its moving past with modern urban life, lively shopping districts, and regional cuisine, most notably Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and oysters from Hiroshima Bay. Just outside the city lies the island of Miyajima, home to the famous Itsukushima Shrine, its seemingly floating torii gate, freely roaming deer, and forested Mount Misen. Together, Hiroshima and Miyajima form one of Japan’s most culturally and scenically impressive destinations.
