Description

Hermanus is a charming coastal town in the Western Cape and one of the world’s best places for land-based whale watching. Located on scenic Walker Bay, the town is known for Southern Right Whales, which can be spotted off the coast mainly between June and November, the spectacular Cliff Path, and its traditional Whale Crier, who announces whale sightings by blowing a kelp horn. Hermanus combines dramatic coastal scenery with beautiful beaches, the biodiverse Fernkloof Nature Reserve, a wide range of outdoor activities, and a vibrant dining and arts scene. Its relaxed atmosphere and exceptional natural experiences make Hermanus one of South Africa’s most popular coastal destinations.
