Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth) is a major port city on Algoa Bay in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, known for its long sandy beaches, mild coastal climate, and relaxed atmosphere. Often referred to as the “Friendly City”, it combines urban life with nature, maritime charm, and a rich cultural heritage. One of its notable attractions is Route 67, an arts and heritage trail featuring 67 public artworks honoring Nelson Mandela’s years of service to South Africa. Gqeberha is also a popular base for excursions to Addo Elephant National Park and other wildlife reserves in the region, as well as one of the gateways to the famous Garden Route.
