Description
The Dieng Plateau (Dataran Tinggi Dieng) is a volcanic highland at around 2,000 metres above sea level in Central Java and one of Indonesia’s most remarkable landscapes. The plateau is known for its steaming craters, colourful lakes, fertile fields, and some of Java’s oldest surviving Hindu temples. Highlights include Sikidang Crater, Telaga Warna, and sunrise from Sikunir, with sweeping views of the surrounding volcanoes. The Dieng Plateau combines dramatic volcanic scenery with centuries-old culture, rural life, and a cool, often mist-shrouded highland atmosphere.
