Short description of Diana's Peak
Diana's Peak is the highest point of Saint Helena at 823 metres and the centre of the island's only national park, a ridge of cloud forest that holds most of its surviving native plants. The trail from Cabbage Tree Road climbs through tree ferns, black cabbage trees and dripping moss over Mount Actaeon to the summit, where on a clear day the whole island lies below. Many of the plants grow nowhere else, and conservation workers have cleared invading flax to let them recover. The walk takes a morning, the ridge is often in cloud, and the path can be muddy after rain.
