Short description of Dalaba
Dalaba was built as a hill station because the air up at this height is cool enough to sleep under a blanket, and the French left behind a sanatorium, a garden and a villa where the governor spent the hot months. The villa still stands with its painted ceilings. A council house nearby was decorated by Fulani craftsmen with woven panels and is easily the finest thing in the town. Paths run out through pine and eucalyptus woods to viewpoints over the plateau edge. A tall waterfall drops off the escarpment edge not far away.
