Bunaken National Park (Taman Nasional Bunaken) lies off the coast of Manado in North Sulawesi and is one of the world's richest marine biodiversity hotspots. The park encompasses the islands of Bunaken, Manado Tua, Siladen, Mantehage, and Nain and forms part of the Coral Triangle, the global center of marine biodiversity. Bunaken is renowned for its spectacular coral reefs, many of which plunge into deep water as dramatic vertical walls, as well as its crystal-clear seas inhabited by sea turtles, reef sharks, and countless species of tropical fish. In addition to its coral reefs, the park also protects extensive mangrove forests and seagrass meadows.
