Description

Belitung (Pulau Belitung) is a tropical island off the east coast of Sumatra, known for its snow-white beaches, massive granite boulders, and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The island captivates visitors with spectacular coastal landscapes such as Tanjung Tinggi and Tanjung Kelayang, small offshore islands, colorful markets, and the historic lighthouse on Lengkuas Island. Island hopping, swimming, and snorkeling are among the best ways to explore its maritime scenery, while the milky-turquoise Kaolin Lake provides a striking contrast to the tropical coastline. Belitung also gained wider recognition as the setting of “Laskar Pelangi” and, with its relaxed atmosphere and diverse landscapes, is an appealing destination away from Indonesia’s major tourist centers.
