Baños de Agua Santa, usually referred to simply as “Baños”, is a lively small town at the foot of the active Tungurahua Volcano and one of Ecuador's most popular travel destinations. Nestled between the Andes and the Amazon foothills, it is widely regarded as the gateway to the Amazon region. The town is renowned for its hot thermal springs, spectacular waterfalls, and a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, and white-water rafting. Among its best-known attractions are the Ruta de las Cascadas (Route of the Waterfalls), featuring the impressive Pailón del Diablo waterfall, and the swing at La Casa del Árbol, famous for its sweeping views of the volcano. The Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Agua Santa reflects the town's long-standing pilgrimage tradition.
