Australia · Northern Territory · 545 m
Description
Alice Springs is the heart of the Australian Outback and the cultural centre of the Red Centre. Set on the traditional lands of the Arrernte people and framed by the ancient MacDonnell Ranges, the town is known for its Aboriginal art, pioneering and Outback heritage, and striking desert landscapes. Alice Springs combines First Nations culture with the distinctive way of life of remote Central Australia, reflected in institutions such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the School of the Air. As the starting point of the famous Larapinta Trail and an important gateway to the natural wonders of the Red Centre, the town is an ideal base for exploring dramatic gorges, secluded waterholes and vast desert landscapes, as well as Uluṟu, Kata Tjuṯa and Kings Canyon.
