Description

Siena is one of Tuscany’s most impressive medieval cities and a unique center of history, art, and living tradition. Its UNESCO-listed historic center is known for its warm brick façades, narrow streets, and Gothic architecture, as well as the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo with the Palazzo Pubblico and Torre del Mangia. Twice a year, the square hosts the traditional Palio di Siena, a spectacular horse race in which the city’s historic districts compete against one another. With its striking cathedral of light and dark marble and its distinctive medieval atmosphere, Siena is considered one of Italy’s most fascinating cities and a cultural heart of Tuscany.
