Description
Port Moresby is the capital of Papua New Guinea and the entry point for essentially every visitor, a city on a dry harbour coast that no road connects to the rest of the country. Everything beyond it is reached by air. The National Museum holds the finest collection of Sepik carving and Highlands artefacts in the world, and the Nature Park keeps tree kangaroos, cassowaries and birds of paradise in rainforest enclosures. Hanuabada, a village of houses on stilts over the water, sits at the edge of the modern town. Most visitors stay one night and fly on the next morning.
