Mullet Bay, Sint Maarten

Mullet Bay

Sint Maarten · Sint Maarten · 3 m

Description

Mullet Bay is the long half moon of white sand west of the airport and the busiest beach on the Dutch side, filled with local families at the weekend. A reef guards the mouth of the bay, so the water is calm enough to swim and clear enough to snorkel off the rocks at either end, where parrotfish and the occasional turtle come in. When a northerly swell runs it carries the best surf on the island. The luxury resort that once stood behind the sand was wrecked by a hurricane and never rebuilt, which is why the bay stays quiet. The island's only golf course borders it.
