Maho Beach
Sint Maarten · Sint Maarten · 6 m
Description
Maho Beach is a short strip of sand at the western end of Princess Juliana International Airport, where the approach path crosses the water barely twenty metres above the sea. Arriving jets pass directly over sunbathers, which has made this small bay one of the most filmed places in the Caribbean. The beach itself is narrow and the surf can be strong, so most visitors come for the spectacle rather than to swim. Behind it lies Maho Village with casinos, bars and hotels, and the far larger Mullet Bay Beach is a few minutes west. Departure blasts from the runway fence draw their own crowd.
