Short description of Luba
Luba is a fishing port on the wetter southern coast of Bioko where the road from Malabo effectively ends and the tracks toward the volcano and the turtle beaches begin. Wooden boats work the harbour through the morning under a backdrop of forested crater walls. It functions mainly as a supply stop and staging point rather than a destination in its own right at all. The road south of town deteriorates very quickly and genuinely needs a serious four wheel drive vehicle. Rain here falls harder and more often than almost anywhere else on the island.
