Short description of Lifou
Lifou is the largest of the Loyalty Islands and the one most cruise passengers step onto, tendering into the bay at Easo. Jinek Bay beside it is a small marine reserve where a wooden stair drops into clear water over coral heads, and numbers in the water are limited. Cliffs run along much of the coast, with vanilla plantations and chapels inland, and the Notre-Dame de Lourdes chapel on its headland looks down the whole bay. Luengoni in the south has the beach and the caves, freshwater pools under the rock. The island has no river, so the water comes from below.
