Saint Pierre and Miquelon · Miquelon-Langlade
Short description of Langlade
Langlade is the southern half of the archipelago's big island and has no permanent village, only a line of summer cabins along the Anse du Gouvernement that fill up when the ferry starts running. Behind them the land rises into moorland cut by deep valleys, and the west coast falls in cliffs that are best seen from a kayak. A sand isthmus twelve kilometres long joins Langlade to Miquelon, with the open Atlantic on one side and the Grand Barachois lagoon on the other. Horses run loose on the dunes. The Dunefest gathering fills the isthmus in August.
