Short description of Lake Louise
Lake Louise is a small hamlet in Banff National Park and the turquoise glacial lake above it that has become an emblem of the Canadian Rockies. At 1,750 metres, the lake lies beneath the Victoria Glacier, with the grand Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise on its shore and red canoes gliding across the water in summer. Trails climb from the lakeshore to the Lake Agnes Tea House, the Big Beehive and the Plain of Six Glaciers. A few kilometres away, Moraine Lake sits in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, reached only by shuttle or tour bus since the road was closed to private cars in 2023. In winter the Lake Louise Ski Resort draws skiers, the frozen lake turns into a skating rink, and the hamlet is the southern start of the Icefields Parkway to Jasper.
