Algonquin Provincial Park
Canada · Ontario · 400 m
Description
Algonquin Provincial Park is Ontario's oldest provincial park and one of Canada's most renowned protected wilderness areas. Covering approximately 8,000 square kilometres, it is characterized by vast mixed forests, more than 2,000 lakes, countless rivers, and the ancient rock formations of the Canadian Shield. The park is a premier destination for canoeing, hiking, camping, wildlife watching, and backcountry adventures. Moose, black bears, beavers, wolves, and hundreds of bird species inhabit its diverse ecosystems. Particularly famous are the brilliant autumn colours of its sugar maples, which make Algonquin one of North America's finest destinations for fall foliage. With its pristine landscapes and extensive wilderness, the park is widely regarded as one of the best places to experience the essence of the Canadian wilderness.
