Lake Caldaro (Lago di Caldaro) is South Tyrol’s largest natural swimming lake and is considered the warmest bathing lake in the Alps. Idyllically situated along the South Tyrolean Wine Road, it is known for its pleasantly warm waters, reed-lined shores, and landscape of vineyards and rolling hills. The lake combines swimming and water sports with cycling, hiking, and the long-standing wine culture of the Caldaro region. With its protected wetland biotope on the southern shore, the ruins of Leuchtenburg Castle, and the South Tyrol Wine Museum in Caldaro, the area is a diverse destination for nature lovers, active travelers, and those who appreciate good food and wine.
