Short description of La Maddalena
The La Maddalena Archipelago (Arcipelago di La Maddalena) is a national park of granite islands in the Strait of Bonifacio, off the northeast coast of Sardinia. Its seven main islands and dozens of islets are known for pink and grey rocks, white sand and shallow turquoise water. Ferries cross from Palau to La Maddalena, the only town, which is linked by a causeway to Caprera, where Giuseppe Garibaldi spent his last years. Boat trips visit Spargi, Santa Maria, Razzoli and Budelli with its pink beach, which can only be viewed from the water. Sailing, snorkelling and remote coves make the archipelago worth several days.
