Christmas Island · Christmas Island
Short description of Dolly Beach
Dolly Beach is the most beautiful beach of Christmas Island, a curve of pale sand and coconut palms on the east coast, reached by a short drive on a forest track and a walk of about two kilometres on a boardwalk through the rainforest. Green and hawksbill turtles nest on the sand in the wet season, and a freshwater spring runs out at the back of the beach. Swells from the open ocean make swimming risky, so most people come for the view and a picnic. On the south-west coast the Blowholes spray seawater through the cliff terraces with a loud hiss.
