Description
Boseong (보성) grows most of Korea's green tea, and the Daehan plantation above the town is the image the whole industry uses, terraces cut in narrow contour lines up a steep slope under a colonnade of cedars. The rows are green from spring through autumn and at their most intense in the humid heat of summer, which is also the least comfortable time to walk them. In winter the fields are dormant and the plantation switches to a light festival that runs from mid-November into January and draws its own crowds after dark. Down at the coast, Yulpo has a bathhouse that heats seawater and green tea together. The Korea Tea Museum sits between them. Boseong also sits beside Beolgyo, whose tidal flats produce the cockles that appear in every restaurant for miles.
