Short description of Barumini
Barumini is a village in the Marmilla hills of south central Sardinia, known for Su Nuraxi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This Bronze Age complex of stone towers and a surrounding village of round huts is the finest example of the nuraghi built across Sardinia. In the village centre, Casa Zapata, a Spanish noble residence, was built directly over another nuraghe that can be seen beneath glass floors. North of Barumini the basalt plateau of the Giara di Gesturi is home to small wild horses and seasonal ponds. Castles and a miniature park complete a rewarding day in the Marmilla.
