The Aeolian Islands (Isole Eolie) are a volcanic archipelago of seven islands off the northern coast of Sicily and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island group is known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, Stromboli with its characteristic volcanic activity, the fumaroles of Vulcano, black-sand beaches, and crystal-clear Mediterranean waters. Lively Lipari, elegant Panarea, and lush Salina combine Mediterranean island life with hiking, diving, boat trips, and island hopping.
