Description

The Aeolian Islands (Isole Eolie) are a volcanic archipelago of seven islands off the northern coast of Sicily and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island group is known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, Stromboli with its characteristic volcanic activity, the fumaroles of Vulcano, black-sand beaches, and crystal-clear Mediterranean waters. Lively Lipari, elegant Panarea, and lush Salina combine Mediterranean island life with hiking, diving, boat trips, and island hopping. One of Italy’s most fascinating volcanic archipelagos, the Aeolian Islands are also renowned for sweet Malvasia wine and rank among the most distinctive destinations in the Tyrrhenian Sea.
