Description
Tutuala sits at the eastern tip of the island above a cliff, and the track down from it ends at a beach facing Jaco Island across a two hundred metre channel. Jaco is considered sacred and nobody lives on it or stays overnight, so fishermen paddle visitors across in the morning and collect them before dark. The water in the channel is clear enough to see the bottom from the boat. The whole area lies inside Nino Konis Santana National Park, and limestone caves above Tutuala hold rock paintings thousands of years old. A four-wheel drive is needed for the last stretch.
