Description
Segovia is a historic city on Spain’s Castilian plateau, just northwest of Madrid, and one of the country’s most celebrated cultural destinations. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is renowned for its monumental Roman aqueduct, one of the best preserved structures of its kind in the world, its fairy tale Alcázar, and its imposing Late Gothic cathedral. Within its historic center, Roman heritage, medieval architecture, and Castilian traditions combine to create a remarkably distinctive cityscape. Segovia is also famous for its regional cuisine, especially its traditional roast suckling pig (cochinillo asado), and is widely regarded as one of the most rewarding destinations in central Spain.
