Description
Saint-Malo is a historic port city on the coast of Brittany and one of the best-known destinations in northwestern France. The city is famous for its old town, Intra-Muros, completely enclosed by massive granite walls, its eventful history as a stronghold of corsairs and seafarers, and its exceptionally powerful tides. Long sandy beaches, offshore forts, and tidal islands shape the coastline, while the carefully reconstructed old town impresses with its narrow streets and historic granite buildings. Saint-Malo combines maritime heritage, monumental fortifications, and Breton coastal culture with galettes, fresh seafood, and the famous oysters of nearby Cancale.
