Saint-Jean
Saint-Barthélemy · Saint-Barthélemy · 5 m
Description
Saint-Jean is the beach in the middle of Saint-Barthélemy and the one every arriving passenger sees from the air, because the runway ends at its western edge and aircraft drop over a low saddle onto it. Watching that approach from the beach bar at the top of the hill is a local pastime. The bay is split in two by the rock the Eden Rock hotel sits on, and the reef keeps the water flat enough for children on the eastern half. Shops and restaurants line the road behind the sand. That runway is among the shortest in commercial use anywhere.
