Rocky Mountain National Park in the U.S. state of Colorado protects one of the most spectacular sections of the Rocky Mountains and is characterized by majestic peaks, crystal-clear mountain lakes, dense forests, and vast alpine meadows. The national park is known for the 4,346-meter-high Longs Peak, its diverse wildlife including elk, moose, and bighorn sheep, and the spectacular Trail Ridge Road, which winds through the high-alpine landscape and crosses the Continental Divide. Numerous hiking trails offer breathtaking views of rugged mountain ranges, alpine tundra, and pristine valleys. With the changing seasons, the landscape reveals new beauty, from blooming mountain meadows to snow-covered peaks. Rocky Mountain National Park is considered one of the great natural treasures of the United States and a symbol of the wild mountain landscapes of the American West.
