Description
Picton is the main gateway between New Zealand's North and South Islands and the starting point for exploring the Marlborough Sounds. The small harbour town is known for its spectacular setting on Cook Strait, its intricate network of sheltered waterways and forested hills, and the renowned Queen Charlotte Track. The Marlborough Sounds are home to secluded bays, quiet beaches, and remote lodges, many of which can only be reached by boat or water taxi. Just south of Picton lies the Marlborough wine region, internationally acclaimed for its Sauvignon Blanc.
