Description
La Graciosa is the smallest inhabited island of the Canaries and the only settled part of the Chinijo Archipelago, a cluster of islets off the north coast of Lanzarote. Nothing on it is paved. Sand tracks link the two settlements, Caleta de Sebo and the hamlet of Pedro Barba, and people move about by bicycle, on foot or in one of a handful of licensed jeeps. Low volcanic cones rise from a flat desert of pale sand, and the water around the island forms the largest marine reserve in Europe. The ferry from Órzola takes half an hour.
