Description
Kosrae is a single high island with the best dry land scenery in Micronesia, ringed by hard coral that grows right up to the shore. The reef is close enough that much of the diving and snorkelling starts from the beach, and two marine parks protect the best of it. Lelu holds a walled stone city of basalt and coral built by the island chiefs, smaller than Nan Madol but far easier to walk into. Mount Finkol behind it is the hardest climb in the country, and mangrove channels run the length of the coast.
