Description
Karaganda is a coal city on empty steppe that was built by prisoners and deportees, and the reason to come is that it does not hide it. The administration building of the Karlag camp system at Dolinka is now a museum of political repression, laid out in the rooms where the sentences were signed, and it is the most serious museum of its kind in the country. The city above it has grand Stalin-era avenues that were meant for a capital. The ecology museum keeps a collection of debris that fell on the open steppe from Baikonur launches.
