Glacier National Park
United States of America · Montana · 1200 m
Description
Glacier National Park, located in the U.S. state of Montana along the Canadian border, is one of North America’s most spectacular protected areas and part of the mountainous region known as the “Crown of the Continent”. The park is defined by rugged peaks, vast forests, alpine meadows, more than 700 lakes, and a dramatic landscape shaped by ancient glaciers. Famous routes such as the Highline Trail and the spectacular Going-to-the-Sun Road provide access to its pristine mountain wilderness, home to grizzly bears, mountain goats, elk, and numerous bird species. Together with Canada’s Waterton Lakes National Park, Glacier forms the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that embodies the wild beauty of the North American Rocky Mountains.
