Description
Canyonlands is Utah’s largest national park and a spectacular wilderness of deep canyons, towering mesas, sandstone spires, and natural arches in the heart of the Colorado Plateau. The Colorado and Green Rivers divide the landscape into three major land districts. Island in the Sky offers sweeping panoramas across the rugged canyon country, while The Needles is known for its striking red-and-white-banded sandstone spires and remote hiking trails. The Maze ranks among the most isolated wilderness areas in the contiguous United States and is notoriously difficult to access. The roughly 100-mile (160-kilometer) White Rim Road winds through the dramatic landscape below Island in the Sky and is considered one of the classic mountain biking and four-wheel-drive routes of the American Southwest.
