Description
Babeldaob is by far the largest island in Palau and the one almost nobody looks at, because the boats leave in the other direction. A bridge four hundred metres long joins it to Koror, and behind that begins jungle, rivers and a road that runs most of the way round. Ngardmau Waterfall is the tallest in the country and costs five hundred steps to reach. At Badrulchau in the north stand basalt monoliths that may date to the second century, thought to be the posts of the largest meeting house ever raised in Palau. The country's international airport is on Babeldaob too, so every visitor lands here and most leave again having seen only the road to Koror.
